Let me ask you something.

Why do we feel like He is so far?

That's not a rhetorical question. I asked it on day 13 because I needed to ask it myself. We have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. We are the temple. Not a building — us. He's in front of us, behind us, beside us. The veil tore. Full access.

So what's the problem.

We severed the connection back in the garden. That much is true. But the whole story of scripture after that is God closing the distance we created. The Ark. The temple. One man, once a year behind the veil — and even that was Him getting closer. Then Jesus dies, and God tears the veil Himself. Top to bottom. That's not a man ripping something. That's God removing the barrier He no longer wants between you and Him.

And now we walk around feeling like He's gone somewhere.

I'm going to be honest — I was getting convicted while I was talking. Because I do it too. We wake up and immediately the day starts. We jolt out the door. Whatever's pulling at our attention, we follow it. And then at some point we wonder why God feels distant.

He's not distant. We went loud.

James 4:8 — draw near to God and He will draw near to you. That's not a promise for someone else. That's a condition and a guarantee in the same sentence. The move is yours. You draw near. He draws near. Every time.

But you can't draw near while you're running.

Be still and know that I am God. That's not a feeling. That's a command. And we haven't learned to do it. Not really. Not in this age where everything is pulling at you the moment your eyes open.

Audit your attention. That's where it starts. What are you following that's taking you away from Him? Those things — if they're not building you into the image of Christ — they need to go. I have things. You have things. We all do.

Mary sat at His feet while Martha ran around doing things for Him. Both loved Jesus. One was with Him. Our goals are not the goal. Our God is the goal.

He is nearer than your breath.

It just takes a moment of stillness to find out.
